The Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology was established at Kasturba Medical College Hospital, Manipal in the year 1974 under the guidance of Dr.TMA Pai, founder of Manipal Shirdi Sai Baba Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, a 280-bed hospital in Manipal, was commissioned in 1992 with generous financial assistance from Shamdasani Foundation and is run on non- profit basis, which provides comprehensive facilities for the prevention, early detection and treatment of cancer Since then, Shamdasani Foundation charitable trust, has given a constant support for the progress of Shirdi Sai Baba Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Manipal. Recently Shamdasani Foundation, in the name of Sai Baba of Shirdi, has established an endowment fund to promote cancer care in the community and to extend financial support to the needy patients for treatment of cancer and to facilitate cancer related clinical activities such as cancer awareness, cancer screening and research at the Shirdi Sai Baba Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, Manipal. This fund is called Shirdi Sai Baba Cancer Care Endowment Fund. The major contribution for the Shirdi Sai Baba Cancer Care Endowment Fund is donated by Shamdasani Foundation Charitable Trust & Manipal Foundation. Along with the generous contributions of those who are willing, it is proposed to raise a corpus amount of around one crore rupees, the interest amount of which will be utilized on monthly basis for the following cause: |

To extend financial assistance for the treatment of poor deserving cancer patients at the hospital. The hospital’s aim will be, to offer financial assistance to curable patients who cannot afford the entire cost and palliation in patients with advanced cancer.. |
